Repentance, the act of accepting personal responsibility for wrongs that we have committed, is very important for those that have the primary goal of making it to Heaven. The other duty is to keep our first family first and not last. When a man leaves his first family and moves in with and lies with another woman, his gate gets wider. Furthermore, like many step-parents that deny knowing the abandoned child of the first family, so too will God deny knowing him or her.
Jesus said, “Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able…and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know not whence ye are…There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. “(Luke 13:24-28)
