Jesus was a step-father’s step-son himself. He knows all about the confusion that adultery causes within families. He knows that many children from the first family receive little to nothing when their parents die. He knows what it is like to have brothers and sisters from the second family that do not love their brothers and sisters from the first family – especially after they have inherited everything that belonged to the parents of the first family.
He tried hard to change this reverse perception of family, but the adulterers won. Today, more people than ever before are adulterers and adulteresses. As, the matter of fact, adultery is so prevelent that it has become our new normal. The first family is discarded like trash to make room for the second wife and her children. How can a parent walk away from their own children? This is not love!
“For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother” (Matthew 12:50)
“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (Matthew 16:24)
Are you willing to take up your cross and make your first family first again? If you are divorced and remarried, in most cases the second spouse knows that there is a first family. Surely they did not expect you to just walk away from your first family! If they did, I doubt that they really truly love you!
Love your children of the first family! Do not mistake selfishness for love! Save your first family!
