Jesus gave us all some rules to live by, but I believe that they apply to our children as well as to adults.
He said in Matthew 19:18-20, “Thou shalt do not murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness. Honour thy father and thy mother and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
Do not kill or abort your children by birth control or surgery, Do not commit adultery by bringing an unrelated stranger into the family home to sleep in their parent’s bed, Do not steal from the children of the first family to give to the children of the second family, Do not lie about your children from your first family and bear false witness. Even for children that have experienced some or all of the above, they still must call their mother their “mother” and their father their “father”. Some children will call a step-parent their “parent”, but this is not a true statement. We all must love our neighbor as ourselves and that includes our children and our whole family too!
