When we pray…

Jesus had very specific instructions about praying. Public praying in front of a crowd of church goers either in the building or on the streets out in the open area is discouraged. The reason is because of our perception which Jesus talked about in other scriptures. Our egos love recognition and when our ego gets recognition that is our only reward. But in order to keep our egos in check, we are to go into the closet and pray. Don’t say length prayers either because God already know what we need even before we ask.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:5-8, “And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corner of the streets, that they may be seen of men, Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.” But when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut the door, pray to thy Father which is in secret, and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye like unto them: for your Father knoweth what ye have need of, before he ask him.”
